This is from Wikipedia : Maringá is a city in southern Brazil that was founded on May 10, 1947. Maringá is the third largest city in the state of Paraná. The city has a population of 329,800 (estimate IBGE 2007), 570,094 (metropolitan area, estimate IBGE, 2007). It is a regional centre of commerce, services, agro-industries, and universities, including the State University of Maringá.

In 1925, the Northern Paraná Land Company was established on London, England. It was responsible for the settling of more than 500,000 acres in the northern part of Parana' State, Brazil, which today contains some of the largest cities in Paraná.
