Russia - Kul Shariff Mosque (2)


An illustration of Kul Shariff Mosque in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. I was in this mosque in July 2024, wearing national costumes of Malaysia, praying Zohor and Asar, met an Imam's mosque, and had video recording for Malaysian Independence Day (31st August).

Russia - Republic Dagestan - Makhachkala

Makhachkala, previously known as Petrovskoye (1844–1857) and Port-Petrovsk (1857–1921), or by the local Kumyk name of Anji, is the capital and largest city of Dagestan, Russia. The city is located on the Caspian Sea, covering an area of 468.13 square kilometres (180.75 square miles), with a population of over 623,254 residents, while the urban agglomeration covers over 3,712 square kilometres (1,433 square miles), with a population of roughly 1 million residents. Makhachkala is the fourth-largest city in the Caucasus, the largest city in the North Caucasus and the North Caucasian Federal District, as well as the third-largest city on the Caspian Sea. I visited Hanoi during my Indo-China vacations (10th-12th January 2025) and bought this postcard. The stamps are cancelled at the Central Post Office in Hanoi. I brought home myself this postcard along with the others.

USA - New Mexico - Carlsbad Caverns National Park (2)

Located in the Guadalupe Mountains of southern New Mexico, Carlsbad Caverns National Park contains over 120 limestone caves in a fossil reef laid down 265 million years ago. American Indians lived in the area twelve to fourteen thousand years ago; their cooking ring sites and pictographs have been found within the park's boundaries.

Located in the Yangtze River Basin on the south-eastern coast of the country, the archaeological ruins of Liangzhu (about 3,300-2,300 BCE) reveal an early regional state with a unified belief system based on rice cultivation in Late Neolithic China. The property is composed of four areas – the Area of Yaoshan Site, the Area of High-dam at the Mouth of the Valley, the Area of Low-dam on the Plain and the Area of City Site. These ruins are an outstanding example of early urban civilization expressed in earthen monuments, urban planning, a water conservation system and a social hierarchy expressed in differentiated burials in cemeteries within the property (read further).

Kinmenalternatively known as Quemoy, is a group of islands governed as a county by the Republic of China (Taiwan), only 10 km (6.2 mi) east from the city of Xiamen in Fujian, located at the southeastern coast of the People's Republic of China, from which they are separated by Xiamen Bay. Kinmen is also located 187 km (116 mi) west from the closest shoreline of the island of Taiwan across the Taiwan Strait (read further).

Germany - Hesse - Eder Dam

The Eder Dam is one of the largest dams in Europe. Built between 1908 - 1914. Water volume 202.4 million cubic metres, height of the dam wall 48 metres, length 400 metres, width 33 metres, length of the lake 27km. The Eder Dam is surrounded by high forest-covered hills. The construction of the dam left three villages completely submerged and several partly submerged.

The Edersee Dam is a hydroelectric dam spanning the Eder river in northern HesseGermany. Constructed between 1908 and 1914, it lies near the small town of Waldeck at the northern edge of the Kellerwald. Breached by Allied bombs during World War II, it was rebuilt during the war, and today generates hydroelectric power and regulates water levels for shipping on the Weser river (read further).
