Baa Atoll

Baa Atoll (includes Southern Maalhosmadulu Atoll or Maalhosmadulu Dhekunuburi, Fasdhūtherē Atoll, and Goifulhafehendhu Atoll) is an administrative division of the Maldives. It consists of three separate natural atolls, namely southern Maalhosmadulu Atoll (which is 42 km long and 32 km wide and consists of 9 inhabited islands), the Fasdūtherē Atoll (wedged in between the two Maalhosmadulu Atolls and separated from north Maalhosmasdulu Atoll by Hani Kandu or Moresby Channel) and the smaller natural atoll known as Goifulhafehendhu Atoll (Horsburgh Atoll in the Admiralty charts).

Situated on the west of the Maldives atoll chain, it consists of 75 islands of which 13 are inhabited with a population of over 11,000 people. The remaining 57 islands are uninhabited, in addition to eight islands being developed as resorts (read further).

Maafushi (Dhivehi: މާފުށި) is one of the inhabited islands of Kaafu Atoll and the leading local tourism island of the Maldives. The island's proximity to Malé and its transport hubs has allowed Maafushi to become a popular destination for tourists visiting local islands (read further).

Bamako is the capital and largest city of Mali, with a 2022 population of 4,227,569. It is located on the Niger River, near the rapids that divide the upper and middle Niger valleys in the southwestern part of the country.

Bamako is the nation's administrative center. The city proper is a cercle in its own right. Bamako's river port is located in nearby Koulikoro, along with a major regional trade and conference center. Bamako is the seventh-largest West African urban center after Lagos, Abidjan, Kano, Ibadan, Dakar, and Accra. Locally manufactured goods include textiles, processed meat, and metal goods as well as mining. Commercial fishing occurs on the Niger River (read further).

Old San Juan (Spanish: Viejo San Juan) is a historic district located at the "northwest triangle" of the islet of San Juan in San Juan. Its area roughly correlates to the Ballajá, Catedral, Marina, Mercado, San Cristóbal, and San Francisco sub-barrios (sub-districts) of barrio San Juan Antiguo in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico (read further).

Taiwanese fried chicken (Chinese: 鹹酥雞; pinyin: xiánsūjī; Wade–Giles: hsien²su¹chi¹; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: kiâm-so͘-ke; also 鹽酥雞; yánsūjī; 'salty crispy chicken'), westernized as popcorn chicken, is a dish in Taiwanese cuisine commonly found as a street snack. It is popular at the night markets in Taiwan. It consists of bite-sized pieces of chicken, coated and fried with flour and seasoning mixture. Salt and pepper is the staple condiment, while chili powder, lightly fried basil leaves, and garlic bits are added depending on preference (read further).

A five-storey pagoda outdoors with a total standing of 16.7 meters tall.

It is the smallest standing pagoda. It is a masterpiece of Muro Mountains that exudes a dignified atmosphere.

Kohfukuji’s Five-storied Pagoda was originally erected in 730 by Empress Kōmyō (701–760), the daughter of Kohfukuji’s founding patron, Fujiwara no Fuhito (659–720). Over its long history, the pagoda burned down a total of five times, with the current reconstruction dating to 1426. At 50.1 meters, it is the second-tallest wooden pagoda in Japan today. Famous for its deep eaves, the structure successfully blends references to the architecture of the Nara Period (710–794) with the dynamic architectural style of the Muromachi Period (1136–1573) during which it was last rebuilt (read further).

USA - Arizona - Grand Canyon Skywalk

Grand Canyon Skywalk

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is an architechtural marvel. It was completed on March 28, 2007 after 2.5 years of hard work and engineering. The structure itself weighs an astinishing 1.571 million pounds, and was built to withstand an excess of 71 million pounds in weight on top of it.

USA - Pittsburgh - Schenley Park

Schenley Park - This image shows the tufa bridge over Phipps Run, which was part of the original design of the park. Efforts are underway to restore the historic trail and streambed soil erosion leading to Phanter Hollow Lake.

Postcards to Swap With My Missing Countries - Maldives (Part 2)

I bought many postcards and stamps during my travel to Maldives last week. Here is one of those. I would love to swap this postcard with two (2) postcards of my missing countries OR two (2) postcards that suit my preferences. These unaddressed postcards were stamped and postmarked by a post office at the Velana International Airport in Maldives.
