Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis


ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (or Lou Gehrig's disease) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. Finally, ALS to total paralyzing and death in 2 - 5 years from the dx. World-widely there is estimated at around 400,000 ALS patient (in every age scale) and generally speaking, someone is diagnosed with ALS every 90 minutes. There is no known reason or cure for ALS.
