Old Washee
Toqui-Naachai or Old Washee, was a Navajo "medicine woman." She was believed to be more than 103 years old when this photo was taken in the 1880's. Her silver beads and crescent shaped naja reveal the Spanish colonial influence. More traditional are the strings of turquoise nuggets and hishi beads. Acoma pottery was widely used by the Navajos.
